Pros: most importantly read the other thoughts, but as for pros: I'm not sure why ASUS did this, but there are so many ports, you really shouldn't have a problem getting things set up the way you like. Different ports are on different controllers, which have different RAID controllers and so on. This board has 3 different SATA2/SATA3 controllers (iirc) and for w/e reason has SATA ports scattered all across the board. as the more expensive "gaming"/"enthusiast" boards but comes with true USB3/SATA3 which most of the others don't. This board will perform basically just as well in gaming, development, benchmarks, etc. The difference between "enthusiast" and regular 1156 boards in terms of performance is really extremely slight atm. Overall Review: -I haven't given the auto-OC tools a shot yet, but the interface looks nice enough I personally don't like the way ASUS redesigned the memory slots on these boards, I find it a little more difficult to seat memory on this board than others.
ASUS P7P55D CPU LED SOFTWARE
I don't like the heatsinks over the voltage regulators, they are made of two pieces of metal and don't seem to be 100% firmly attached, which would make me question their effectiveness (although the temp software insists they are working fine, for what that's worth)
ASUS P7P55D CPU LED DRIVERS
I didn't test exactly which, but not having ethernet supported by default made it annoying to get the rest of the drivers updated. Some of the devices (most importantly the LAN adapter) didn't work out of the box in Win7. I am using air cooling (megahalems and Arctic Silver 5), but those numbers don't make sense to me.

From a cold start, the bios reported around 29C CPU temp, and after gaming, the Windows tool reports only 30-32C CPU.

That was a really pleasant surprise.Ĭons: -I'm confident that either the bios or the bundled probing software is wrong. It had every detail I wanted and in great detail with great language. The PCI/PCIe slot layout is very nice, with a single card, you only lose the slowest x1 on the board, and with two you give up a PCI slot, which is exactly what I would probably have asked for. The board feels quite sturdy (I didn't actually stress test) and I at least feel confident in it's ability to handle a large heatsink and/or graphics card. The audio quality from the onboard sound is perfectly fine, no distortion or static that I can detect, even during extremely low/high volume. The NB heatsink, while it looks a little strange, performs very well in my case (HAF X). The bios is nicely laid out, and the board overclocks nicely. Pros: -This board is one of very few right now that offers USB3 and SATA3 without compromising PCI-e performance where it counts.
